There are a lot of browser add-ons and software for twitter but this one is a lot simpler than all of them cause it is a bookmarklet.

All you have to do is to enter your Twitter username and password –

Click Create and drag the Twitlet button to the bookmarks bar.

Now just click the bookmarklet and twit, you don’t even have to enter your username or password cause account details are encrypted and stored in the bookmarklet.

Click ok and

here’s my twit –

If you want to include the URL you’re currently viewing, just add #this or #link to your update, and Twitlet automatically generates a truncated URL via is.gd.

This is the fastest and the easiest way to twitter.

IM Twitter

So where did the IM go? It has been off for a few months now and there seems to be no return either.

So shouldn’t twitter get the word ‘IM’ off it’s ads?

No more installing the plugin to Stumble on to great sites. Plugins have to be downloaded and installed to be used and it tends to repel people as they associated it with malware.

The web toolbar is supposed to launch tonight and would be replicating much of StumbleUpon’s functionality. To access the web toolbar, just visit the revamped StumbleUpon homepage and click on one of the recommended links.

The toolbar sits conveniently at the top of the browser window in its own frame, with a prominent “Stumble” button sitting aside a set of stars for rating the sites you come across. The service uses cookies to persistently keep track of your actions across multiple sessions (you can import this data to the toolbar if you ever choose to install it).

Yahoo is shutting down its social-networking experiment, Yahoo Mash, which had started just a year ago.

An e-mail to Mash members from Yahoo community manager Matt Warburton read, "Thank you for trying out our Mash Beta service. We hope you had fun with it. Please note that we will shut down Mash on September 29, 2008. As a result, your current profile on Mash will no longer be available."

Mash didn’t really offer anything new, other than the fact that instead of inviting friends you created profiles for them and then invited them to customize and change them. You could also add "modules," a sort of rudimentary version of social-network apps. It was designed as a quirky, cute step up from Yahoo 360, the social network that Yahoo had based off its millions of pre-existing user accounts; if Yahoo 360 was analogous to AOL profiles, Mash was more like Facebook.

The Digg team has launched a new Firefox 3 Digg extension. Some of the features are-

  • Notifications – No matter where you are on the web, you can discover popular Digg stories and stay up to date on what your friends are Digging, submitting and commenting. These notifications are fully customizable. Within your preferences you can track different categories and media types, and turn notifications on or off.
  • Digg Toolbar – Displays Digg counts & comments as you browse around the web. You can also Digg and submit stories directly from the toolbar, which is collapsible to save space. Note that the toolbar respects user privacy by passing only hashed URLs to Digg to check if they’ve already been submitted.
  • Customize – In addition to setting topics for notifications of popular stories and your Digg username for notifications of friends’ activity, you can customize the placement of the notification window, how long it displays, and how links should be opened.
  • Follow Your Friends – A great way to discover the best content is to see what your friends are doing on Digg. Enter your Digg username in the settings window to receive notifications when you friends Digg, submit, or comment on stories. To go back and look at earlier notifications, click the Digg icon at the status bar at the bottom of the browser. All notifications can also be snoozed if you want to temporarily turn them off.
