What I Think

Windows Cloud

Posted on: October 2, 2008

According to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer a new operating system named Windows Cloud is going to be launched as early as next month. Windows Cloud is a separate project from Windows 7, the operating system that Microsoft is developing to succeed Windows Vista.

Windows Cloud is intended for developers writing cloud-computing applications. It would be used to make web applications along the lines of Gmail, Hotmail, Zoho Office, or Windows Live Maps. Why an operating system is needed to create Cloud computing applications is still unknown. Hopefully Steve Ballmer will have answers but we’ll have to wait for that.
