You might have read it already but it’s so funny I couldn’t help myself. According to Aaron and Christine Boring, the main reason for buying the house was privacy (I wonder what’s so important to keep private). These pics were acquired, the suit says, when a Google vehicle appeared on their private road without a privacy waiver or other authorization. Claiming this private road is marked with a “Private Road” sign, the suit calls Google’s behavior “an intentional and/or grossly reckless invasion of…seclusion.” The Borings’ lawyer calls it “outlandish.” The suit seeks at least $25,000 in damages. They said it has “caused them mental suffering and diminished the value of their property.” (The value of the property will be skyrocketing now)

Street View is a feature Google added to Google maps in 2007, which provides panoramic views in cities across the United States from ground level. For the time being, the service functions only in the U.S. but is expected to go outside the country as well.

For more detailed photos, Google sends its vehicles equipped with digital cameras that take pictures around major streets in the cities included in “Street View” and if most of us would probably like to see we’re “on the map,” it seems like not everyone feels the same way.

What I don’t understand is why they didn’t make to simple request for the pictures to be removed. Google spokesman Larry Yu said that anyone can get Google to remove the images if they have a good reason to back up their request, the Associated Press reports, adding that: “We absolutely respect that people may not be comfortable with some of the imagery on the site,” said Yu. “We actually make it pretty easy for people to submit a request to us to remove the imagery.”

Filing a lawsuit has further decreased their privacy. I think this move was to make some simple money and to get famous.
